Wärend der letzten paar Wochen wurde die Internetverbindung zum Projektserver oft aus unbekannten Gründen unterbrochen. Es wurde schlimmer und selbst der ISP (Internet Service Provider) hatte keine Ahnung warum.
Es wird ausprobiert ob es an den Netzwerkkabeln, dem DSK Modem oder am Router liegt.
Bis ein normaler betrieb der Netzwerkverbindung wieder her gestellt werden kann wird der Projektserver die meiste Zeit offline sein und es werden keine Arbeitseinheiten (WUs) ausgegeben werden können.
In der Zwischenzeit wird eine neue Version der Projektanwendung fertiggestellt und getestet.
Wenn der Provider in der Lage ist die Ursache für das Problem schnell zu finden könnte der normale betrieb nächste Woche wieder aufgenommen werden.

During the last few weeks the internet connection of the project server was interrupted many times for an unknown reason. Things got worse in the last few days and my ISP doesn’t yet have an idea what’s causing the problems. For testing purposes network cables needed to be reorganized, the DSL modem was exchanged and the router had to be disabled. Until normal network connectivity can be restored, the project server will stay offline most of the time and there will be no new tasks available. Meanwhile a new version of the spider application is being prepared and tested. If the ISP is able to find the reason for the troubles soon, normal operation should be reestablished next week.

Came in to work to find problems had developed on other machines I look after over the weekend. As a result I’m forced to push back the migration till Thursday 24th May. We will get there!

Momentan wird das Creditsystem von RieselSieve in Bezug auf die durchschnittliche Berechnungszeit ausgewertet (5.36 Windows/5.50 Linux)
Jeder der einen BOINC Teilnehmernamen hat kann an der Diskussion und Abstimmung (bis Do. 24.05.07) im Forum teilnehmen.

We are currently evaluating our credit system, in light of the recent speed-up in sieve  and the continuing effort to improve LLR scores. The input from our users will lead the discussion of the new credit levels and the basic alignment between sieve and LLR scores (finally). SETI@Home sollte wieder funktionieren!
Es war die längste Serverpanne in der Geschichte des Projektes.
Wenn BOINC nicht in der Lage istvom SETI@Home Server Dateien zu up- oder zu downloaden, schaut in den Meldungen nach ob eine Servernachricht: Incomplete request (Unvollständige Anfrage) dabei ist.
Wenn ja müsste ein komplettes Beenden und ein Neustart von BOINC die Sache beheben.

If your BOINC client is not able to upload to or download from the SETI@Home servers, look for the message Message from Server: Incomplete request received in the BOINC Manager messages area. If you see that message, stopping and restarting your BOINC client should fix the problem.

RCN hat 111000 neue Wednesday WUs. Sie heissen “W2″ und sind genauso wie die “W1″ nur die Laufzeit wurde auf 8 Std per WU verlängert (für alle CPU Typen).
Da jetzt das Checkpointing funktioniert wird niemand Credits verlieren wenn er seinen Computer während der WU Laufzeit neu booten muss.
